Concentration and Statement
Statement:
This is my first year being an AP art student. I want my concentration to be something meaningful to me as well as something important to the rest of the world. Thus, I have chosen to literally DRAW attention to saving marine life. I hope to convey this message through 2-dimensional drawn/crafted artwork that exposes the human race's inability to take care of the ocean environment. The first step in cleaning up the marine environment is noticing that it needs to be cleaned up. All life matters, likewise all environments matter; something I want everyone who views my art to notice.
Concentration:
Marine Life on My Mind
The brain in this picture is a coral reef and everything outside of the person is mundane, gross, and trashed. The life that the coral reef has is a figment of his imagination because in this day and age the coral reefs as becoming less and less lively.
Ambiguity
This piece is in reference to the many plastic bags that end up in the ocean and are mistaken for jellyfish.
Crab Collage
This is a mixed media piece. I used both pointillism and paper scraps to construct this piece.
Lion Fish
This is a semi-realistic drawing of a lion fish that also incorporates whimsical elements to contrast with the realistic ones.
What's that Floating Anyway?
So much plastic ends up in the ocean. Items such as balloons are often mistaken as food by many fish and turtles. in this picture, the fish is trapped within the balloon because balloons are essentially traps that danger marine life.
Hazardous
This drawing was my first oil pastel drawing. It is a scuba diver in a sea of trash. This shows how humans only care about human life and not so much about marine life.
Sea whats in your Sea Horse
Trash is often consumed by sea creatures therefore in this I wanted to convey what types of common beach litter affects and harms sea creatures.
Perspective
This picture's purpose is to add PERSPECTIVE to how people view the ocean as well as how they view the trash that is in the ocean.
At Our Dispense
This is mixed media; I used paint, marker, and colored pencil. It portrays a fish stuck in a bubble-gum dispenser.
Whats in YOUR Fishnet?
In the fish net, there is trash rather than fish because the ocean is so polluted now. This shows how much trash fills the ocean environment.
Please
In braille, this reads the word "Please." I tried to make this piece resemble moving water. I wanted it to look like the water is begging the viewer to move towards a greener, more eco-friendly future.
Swimming Thoughts
This is a mix of water color and acrylic paint on paper. The subject's head is in a fish bowl, forcing her thoughts to be filled with concerns for the fish.
I love how in "What's in YOUR Fishnet?" the net looks real and the way that if flows looks so natural, and I love that your work looks very light yet the shading is still noticeable and effective.
ReplyDeleteI love your latest piece "crab collage". You did a good job on making the painted dots blend with the cut pieces of paper.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your concentration. I think all of the pieces flow together very nicely, like the ocean..hehe
ReplyDeleteI overall love all your concentration but my favorite would have to be the crab college because of how well the scrap pieces go with the piece
